Who We Are
Orion Boats is owned and operated by Darren Berry, a well know name in the Australian Marine Industry. Darren started building boats in 1997 in Taiwan and then later China and was the founder of the well-respected brand Clipper Motoryachts. Darren begin building his range of Clipper Motoryachts in 1997, he started with the Clipper 34 and 40 and later designed and built the Clipper 46, 50, 52, 60, and 65. Darren established an international network of dealers for Clipper Motoryachts in Australia, Norway, UK, USA, Canada, New Zealand, Italy, Hong Kong, Singapore. In 2014 Darren sold Clipper Motor yacths.
Orion Boats builds a range of bespoke aluminium plate boats from 7.5m to 12m.
If you are looking for a cheap, mass produced Aluminium boat then “Orion Is Not For You”. If you are looking for a Bespoke Premium Aluminium Plate boat with a 10 year warranty at a reasonable price point for quality and inclusions then “Orion Is For You!”
We only aim at building and delivering 8 to 10 boats per year, and focus on Quality over Quantity.
There are many brands that are mass produced and call themselves “Plate Boats” but in reality they are a mix of press plate Aluminium and welded plate and they are built for a price, many of these brands are great for a new owner getting into boating, and they will do the job that they were purchased for. Our boats are aimed at the experienced boat owner or the buyer that wants a hand made premium product.
We contract well known Australian and New Zealand Naval Architects to design all of our boats. Orion Boats owns all of their designs and will never compromise on materials or build quality . Orion has dealers in Australia, New Zealand and Korea, with other areas coming online soon.

Deep "V" Variable Deadrise Hull
We believe our deep "V" Variable Deadrise Hull out performs most others, offering a softer ride and more lift when cutting through a sea. We are conscious that our hull designs need to stand up to harsh weather conditions and keep our owners comfortable at the same time. We design our boats to be soft riding, dry in inclement weather, and stable when at rest.
6mm & 8mm 5083 Marine Grade Aluminium
Our hulls use 6mm & 8mm 5083 marine grade plates. Our hulls have a variable dead rise which produces a soft riding and stable vessel.
Supervised Build
Our boats are built using CNC Router marine aluminium plate and finished with either Jotun or Awlgrip marine paint. We control quality at all levels of a build and we don't leave anything to chance.
Designed by Naval Architects
Orion Boats contract Australian and New Zealand Naval architects for all of our designs.
Offshore Performance
Rough water performance is a major priority in our hull designs. Through continuous refinement, we strive to establish the benchmark for superior seakeeping ability in our boats.
10 year structural warranty
Orion Boats stand behind our boats. We offer a limited 10 year warranty for all our hulls, and our warranty is transferable.
